Team Projects:
The A.L.E.X. Protocol
- Engine: Unreal 4
- Team Size: 17
- Development Time: 6 months
- Genre: Diablo-inspired, Arena Brawler
- Platform: PC
- Role: Level Designer
The A.L.E.X. Protocol was the culmination of my cohort's two full years of study and hard work. Together, the whole class worked to develop a top-down, arena brawler with three unique enemies, fast-paced action gameplay, and fun, but simple combat that challenged, but never battered our players. As level designer, I developed several of our whitebox arenas, polished and finalized three of our final arenas, and tweaked the combat encounters for the first three arenas. During this project, I also worked as part of an A.I. strike team to make the A.I. more challenging and how they reacted to the player. This ranged from simple and more subtle such as how the hovering enemy bounced whenever the player threw them, to more complex ideas such as the Flyer enemy's bee-like behavior. The Battle of the Alien Invaders
- Engine: Unreal Engine 4
- Team Size: 9 Developers
- Development Time: 4 months
- Genre: Multiplayer, Objective-based, First Person Shooter
- Platform: PC
- Role: Level Designer
The Battle of the Alien Invaders was the second student game I worked on. Centered around the theme of two factions of aliens invading 1950's era America, my team worked to craft a fun, competitive, Capture-the-Flag experience. As level designer, I whiteboxed several maps, smoothed and carved landscape, placed assets and pickups, designed the team bases, as well as worked to ensure players had a smooth, enjoyable experience. During this project, I also collaborated with artists to create several assets ranging from small plates and salt shakers, to massive canyons walls. While I wore many hats during this project, ultimately this project taught me more about how to work with others and the dynamics of team work than any other project.
